Our Kids are changing...

We are very fortunate to live in a world full of ever increasing technology, things that are made to make our lives that little bit easier. This technology is moving forwards at a very fast pace and some of us just can't seem to keep up, no matter what! That someone includes me and most of my generation. I think? The teenagers of the early 1980s.

In our day, the cutting edge technology was things like the mobile phone, yes we really did have mobile phones albeit the size of a house brick with a separate battery pack you had to carry around. These mostly from what I remember were only available to businessmen who liked to show off every now and then. I say every now and then because the battery would only last about an hour and the signal was completely useless. We also had home computers for the first time, ones with names like BBC, Amstrad, Sinclair and Commodore 64... really exciting eh? These compared to today were as slow as a snail and made just lots of beeping sounds that played games from a cassette tape.
What's a cassette tape , Dad? Aaarrghh!

But to the kids of today, that was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and we lived in caves. These days, technology has gone completely and utterly bonkers and it seems that there is no slowing it down. There is a new smartphone on the shelves every week, these phones can do almost anything want them to do: check emails, send and take photos or videos, and loads more things besides that I just can't get my head around, and to top it all they are getting thinner and smaller all the time, too.
Home computers today are lightning fast with the help of this technology and a thing called Broadband.

We had to wait an hour just to connect with the Inter-Web thingy back in the day as it had to dial up BT first to almost ask permission. These are also getting thinner and smaller, lighter, as our modern way of living is demanding more and more portable gadgets so we can keep in touch with each other wherever we are in the world at any time of day or night.
Not a bad thing if you are a parent and worried where your kids are, but if you are a teenager I suppose it can feel like you're on Big Brother, as a concerned mum or dad ring you 20 times an hour (slight exaggeration there, maybe?) to see where you are and when you will be coming home for your tea.

Gone are the days when as a youngster you could just roam around anywhere as long as long as you had a watch on your wrist and you knew what time to be back home, there was no problem.
But the world has changed and so have the people that inhabit it, unfortunately, so as a parent myself in today's society here goes...

Hoorah, for technology!
But saying that, there is a downside to all this gadgetry stuff that is available to us and the effect  it is having on our health! Youngsters today may not think it and will instantly dismiss it as they play on their iPads and smartphones, but they too are changing.
If you haven't noticed yourself, just take a look the next time teenager has their mates round or when you walk around the town centre shopping. What I mean by changing is not the voice breaking, acne scarring, hormonal tantrums and mood swings ( some things will never change) but their posture.
Besides seeming to be a lot taller these days they are also becoming more round shouldered, they walk with their head down especially boys that are always looking at their phones and this develops a thing called 'Text Neck'.

'Text Neck' was first coined by US Chiropractor Dr Dean L Fishman to describe the changes in our youngsters posture and the stresses they put on themselves by excessive texting and overuse of all handheld electronic devices. The term and health condition, is derived from the onset of cervical spinal degeneration resulting from the repeated stress of frequent forward head flexion while looking down at the screens of mobile devices and 'texting' for long periods of time.
While 'Text Neck' is certainly a new medical term the condition is impacting millions and is a growing critical global concern. (by kind permission of http://text-neck.com/)

So as technology moves 'forwards', we are actually taking a step 'backwards'. It seems that the technology that our young people love and embrace so much is actually damaging their health now.
To avoid our young people today from becoming 'Our Crippled Generation of the Future'
we need to start now by educating them early on in their lives about the use of these gadgets and how they can look after themselves better as they use them.

Some of the effects on our young people's health by using mobile devices that are already being reported by Health Professionals are:
Text Neck ( Forward head)
Blackberry Thumb (RSI)
Headaches & Migraines
Flattening of the spinal curve
Lower back problems such as spinal disc compression, muscle and nerve damage.
Early onset arthritis, low lung volume capacity due to prolonged hunched positioning  and spinal degeneration.

Most of which used to affect our older generations.
So, as I said earlier in this article, our health seems to be going 'backwards' whilst technology is moving 'forwards'. If at all possible, what would be nice is to try and find that balance between  the two, but at the moment to educate our children from a young age would be a start.
Your local Dorn Method Practitioner can check your teenagers posture and advise you on how they can look after themselves now and in the future.

The way in which the Dorn Method and the Dorn Dysfunction or Blockage works.

dornmethode-3

What is to be understood as a Dorn Dysfunction or vertebral blockage?
The Dorn Method treats vertebrae and joints with an assisting or active physiological movement of the bones by the patient.

From this it can be clearly seen that it is about the entirety of the tissues and their physiological interaction. The definition of a blockage can be approached through this mode of action. The mode of action of The Dorn Method should be sen locally in and around the joint, regionally in neuromuscular functionality, and holistically.

In local treatment The Dorn Method influences all tissues in situ, such as bones, cartilage, menisci, ligaments, capsules, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, connective tissues and fasciae. The treatment works regionally on tissues such as muscles, fasciae and nerves. The holism of The Dorn Method can be seen in it;s equalising effects on inner organs, the energy system through meridian theory, nervous systems (eg: the autonomic system), and psychosocial systems. A blockage or Dorn Dysfunction is usually seen to be strongly decreased or increased in several of the above areas, although deviations in single areas cannot always be equated with the existence of a blockage.

A Dorn Dysfunction shows itself in the entirety of the person and their physiological functionality. The therapist always tries to identify and treat whichever areas of the patient are currently most important in the course of a blockage.

In a vertebral blockage / dysfunction there are almost always positive trends to be found in the spinous processes (right-left) and / or transverse processes (dorsal-ventral). Restrictions of movement and changes in muscle tension are frequent, although they need not always be noticed. Many dysfunctions arise without being noticed by the patient. There are sometimes meridian symptoms and paraesthesia / numbness. Inner organ compliants caused by a blockage are rare. Single - cause psychological symptoms are very rare.

Dorn Therapy is a gentle mobilisation of the vertebrae and joints. Dorn Therapy treatment takes place through the patient- assisted or active movement of joint-forming bones around the resting position of joints and vertebrae.

For patients the therapist can use the image of joints ''slipping out'', though of course only with the goal of increasing the patients acceptance and participation through the understanding of a simplified model.

The ''slipping out'' of a joint in this simple way does not take place, it is a complex interaction of several functions, factors and tissues.

Whiplash!

It's a pain in the neck!
How the Dorn Method could help you with this.

Most of us think of a whiplash injury mainly happening when we experience a car/motor vehicle accident, but there are many other ways we can suffer from a whiplash injury. We can also incur whiplash from accidents like falling off a bike or off a horse or even playing rough types of sportslike rugby, boxing or the martial arts, when the head and neck are easily subjected to a harsh blow.

Whiplash is a collection of symptoms
rather than just one. It occurs when
we experience a sudden, fast,
forward and backward jerking movement of the
neck. This causes the muscles and ligaments in
the neck to overstretch and is usually because of
a powerful strike or force coming from behind,
just as in a car/motor vehicle accident.

What tends to happen when whiplash occurs?

When involved in a motor vehicle accident, for
example, the person or persons involved will
have their body pushed forward whilst their head
tends to stay where it is for a brief moment. As
this happens, it causes the head to move in a
rocking type of movement and therefore causes
over-stretching and even tearing of some of the
muscles, tendons and ligaments. As all this is
happening, the muscles then try to bring the head
back into line with the body as quickly as it can
by bringing the head forwards. This sometimes
then causes over-stretching in the opposite
direction; hence the whiplash effect.

This causes the muscles, tendons and
ligaments to become damaged by the tearing and the vertebrae can easily be pulled out of

alignment or damaged as a result.
Note: As the average person’s head weighs
between eight and twelve pounds, the whiplash
would cause a considerable amount of force to
be placed on the small bones (vertebrae) of the
neck.

What are the symptoms of whiplash?
Someone who has whiplash will most probably
experience some or all of these symptoms: pain
and stiffness in the neck, headaches, shoulder
pain and some temporary loss of neck
movement. Some other symptoms that may be
experienced by people who have experienced
whiplash are: lower back pain, numbness in the
arms or hands, dizziness, fatigue, difficulty with
swallowing, blurred vision, ringing in the ears
(rather like tinnitus) and sleeping problems.

A whiplash injury may only develop 24 hours
after the accident and will most likely become
worse over the following few days. Most
symptoms should clear after about four weeks
but some people can experience problems many
months later. It has been noted that if whiplash is
left untreated it can have a major effect on a
person’s quality of life and even cause disability.

This is where the Dorn Method could help
people in this situation. For instance, the pain
could easily be caused by misaligned or rotated
vertebrae in the neck pressing onto the spinal
nerves, especially the first and second vertebrae
below the skull – C1/C2 or otherwise named the
Atlas/Axis. These specially designed vertebrae
have the tremendous job of carrying the weight of
our skull while also forming the joint that connects
our skull to the spine. These vertebrae help the
head to rotate to the right and left along with
being responsible for nodding type of
movements.

The Dorn Method’s unique neck-alignment
technique does not involve any harsh or jerky
movements to get these vertebrae back into their
correct position. As always, the Dorn Method is a
very gentle therapy which uses muscle distraction
techniques. These techniques fool the brain and
muscles into thinking that the body is moving in a
normal way, therefore relaxing and letting go of
the spine. This allows the Dorn Method therapist
to then make the necessary corrections without
any pain to the patient.

If you have experienced any of the above you
should first consult your doctor for a complete
medical examination. If your symptoms are ongoing
and you wish to seek Complementary
Healthcare then the Dorn Method could help you
with this problem.

The Dorn Method, Don't just keep it to yourself !

Some things in life need to be kept

quiet, but then there are some things

that need to be heard, The Dorn Method

is just one of those things that you

should be talking about more and more.

Here in the UK we can be, shall we say,
a little slow to catch on to new things
that are already a big hit with our
European cousins. This is not always a bad thing
if it's stuff like music or fashion, but when it
comes to complementary healthcare, we are still
a little slow on the uptake.

Many of our European cousins are more open
to the idea of being treated by complementary
healthcare and many have been brought up
throughout their childhood with the understanding
and acceptance of this.
For example, The Dorn Method is now being
taught in some Kindergartens over in Germany.
By planting this seed early on, it is giving
youngsters an idea of how to look after their
health from an early age.

Therefore, as they grow they will hopefully not
have to suffer with back and joint pain, or at least
if they do, they will be able to have a better
understanding of what they can do to help
themselves to overcome the problem.
This is something I think our youngsters should
be taught about whilst growing up, so they too
have an understanding of both complementary
and conventional medicine. This may help ease
some of the financial stress that our NHS system
is under in the future, allowing it to concentrate
on helping people with more serious healthcare
issues.

That said, there are more and more people
today who are steadily looking towards
complementary healthcare in the UK alongside
more conventional healthcare, but most of us still
need a bit of coaxing to try it. I find that most,
myself included, waited until they had been told
that, 'nothing can be done' for them within
conventional medicine before trying
complementary therapies.

This then can put a lot of pressure on the
practitioner, as usually the person suffering is at
the end of their tether with desperation by the
time they get to be seen by a complementary
therapist.

Back and joint pain in the UK is one of those
healthcare issues that cost our healthcare system
many thousands of pounds each year, and is also
one of the most common problems seen by
complementary therapists.

The Dorn Method has been used to treat
people with this problem very successfully all
over Germany for the last 'forty years' and is now
being practised by all sorts of people including
doctors and physiotherapists in most parts of the
world.

The problem is that although therapists in the UK
are quickly catching on to the simplicity of The
Dorn Method, they are rarely involved in
promoting it. Why learn a new skill and not
promote it? Don't just leave it to someone else.

The Dorn Method needs to be talked
about more. Don't keep it a secret!

The general public need to know about how good
this therapy is, and how it could help them in their
everyday lives. Many people cannot believe that
this therapy, so simple in its application, can be
so powerful in its results.

I personally have been actively involved in
promoting The Dorn Method for a few years now
with all sorts of things including my website,
blogs, published articles, and will continue to do
so along with Brigitte Nath, who is the UK's Dorn
Method Instructor and founder of the Dorn
Method Therapists Association (DMTA) who is
continuously running workshops for training all
over the UK as well as promoting the Dorn
Method at various national complementary
therapy exhibitions.

Remember the more people who know about
The Dorn Method, the better it will be for you,
your clients’ health and your business.

Meridians and The Dorn Method

(Graphic Copyright of Helmuth Koch & Hildegard Steinhauser)

Meridians and the Dorn Method

A diseased organ can show symptoms along the corresponding meridian. That is a fact that TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) knows since thousands of years.

These symptoms can be for example: Pain, Disruptions in the Sensitivity, Misinterpretations in the Sensory System, Restrictions in Movements, Energy-Blockages, Cramps, Changes in the Tissues and others. Often the corresponding Vertebrae are misaligned or blocked.

From the localization of the complains the Dorn Therapist can get valuable information about the involved Meridians and therefore about the misaligned or blocked vertebrae.

Vise-Versa we can say that with the Dorn-Therapy the Meridians are also always been treated and influenced at the same time and the distant results can therefore be explained through this.

It is possible, for example, that a dry mouth or bad breath disappears because of the correction of vertebrae C4, Th6, Th7 and Th8 influencing the functional circuit Spleen-Stomach-Mouth.

Help Yourself to a BIG slice of The Dorn Method

Published in May / June issue 22 2013

As a Dorn Method Practitioner, I find it very interesting and educational when clients come to my practice and tell me about the problems they have with all sorts of aches and pains. It's educational and interesting because each person is different and everyone has their own story to tell of how they became to suffer the way they have. After all, each person is an individual and no two are the same.

It also never ceases to amaze me when they tell me for how long they have had their problems.
Some of them have been suffering for just a few weeks but then there are others (the majority) who have been suffering for years with their pain.
For some it has been even decades and they are desperate for some relief.

Listening to what they have to say sometimes makes me smile. Why?
This is because just a few years ago that was me too. I was in the very same position as them and can relate to how they are feeling.
I suffered from terrible back pain for many years (20 to be precise) before becoming a Dorn Method Practitioner and because of this, I can understand how most of my clients are feeling and how they think about things relating to treatments for back pain. After all, there are many therapies you can try and there are all sorts of medications out there on the shelves in the High Street that are available to us, all offering that miracle cure for your back pain.
This conjures up memories of the old man in the westerns that I used to watch as a kid. I have a vision of a small scruffy man rolling into town with his horse and wagon and trying to sell his potions and lotions to anyone he could. He would claim that his Dr Miracles elixir would cure all sorts of ailments from chesty coughs and colds, back pain, headaches, even baldness (which is not really an ailment I know but you get my drift).
The list went on and on.

Luckily for us , today we don't have the man rolling into town with his potions claiming to do this that and the other, but we sure have enough of them to choose from. There are also lots of different types of therapies out there that treat back pain with good results.
But finding the right one for you can be confusing and costly.
The Dorn Method has the advantages of being specifically developed to focus on the cause of common back and joint pain. Dieter Dorn, who was the founder of The Dorn Method, had an accident which caused him to hurt his back over 40 years ago in his native country, Germany.
After researching, developing and perfecting his method by treating thousands of people all over Germany with great success. Dorn is now being taught and practised all over the world and is fast becoming the number one back pain treatment of choice.

Now I can't promise you that The Dorn Method is the miracle cure you have all been waiting for because that would be just plain silly. Each person is different, each person has a different set of circumstances. What I can say, though, is that it definitely worked for me.
My back pain is now a thing of the past, thank goodness, and I owe it all to The Dorn Method.
This is what has driven me to become a Dorn Practitioner because I want to try and help people overcome their back and joint pain like I have. By doing so, hopefully be able to enjoy life once again without the pain that causes them so much distress.

For me, what makes The Dorn Method stand out from most other back and joint pain therapies is that it has it's own set of self help exercises.
These are not only safe but also very easy to do and are quite different from the normal, everyday back and joint pain exercises you tend to see in circulation. Doing these exercises won't take up too much of your time, either, just five to ten minutes a day. That's all it is.
The self help side of things is a BIG part of what Dorn is all about. It's not only just about finding and correcting the problem areas that are causing the pain (which will initially be done by your Dorn Method Practitioner), it is also about educating clients to take an interest in and responsibility for their own healthcare, thereby, hopefully, helping them to enjoy a brighter, happier, pain free future.

'The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.' Thomas Edison (1847-1931)
The way I see it, The Dorn Method fits in with today's modern society extremely well as the new healthcare system that is totally mobile friendly.
You can take it with you everywhere you go.
This is the mobile healthcare system that is always available whenever you want it,  wherever you are and is at your fingertips, once you know how to use it.

For your safety:
(Always consult your nearest registered Dorn Method Practitioner for a consultation and check-up before applying any of the techniques of The Dorn Method yourself).
The one thing NOT to do is just get an exercise sheet and go for it. If you do you could end up doing yourself more harm than good. The best thing to do if you suffer from any kind of pain is to first seek medical advice from your doctor or other healthcare professional as there could be  several reasons for why the pain is occurring, other than misaligned joints.

After your initial consultation:
As with any kind of exercise, you must try and do the exercises on a regular basis to feel the benefits. As I have already mentioned, these exercises are safe and easy to do and will only take a few minutes of your time, they can be done almost anywhere you want - even at your place of work during your lunch break ( if you don't mind being stared at by your colleagues that is). You will certainly create a bit of a talking point wherever you are seen doing them, that's for sure.
But that is not at all a bad thing as The Dorn Method is also about educating people and encouraging them to take more care of their own health as they get older. After all, who wants to live on pain killers for the rest of their days?

Tension Headache - This common type of headache is caused by severe muscle contractions. Tension headaches are mainly caused by tightening in the muscles of the Face, Neck and Scalp because of stress or poor posture. Tension headaches are considered of being a type of Primary headache which means they are not caused  by another medical condition or disorder.

Chronic Daily Headache - Is not a diagnosis. It is a description given to a headache that happens on 15 or more days every month for more than 3 months. According to  research 1 in 20 people will develop this problem at some point in their lives. More common in women than men.

Cluster Headache - These types of headaches seem to mostly affect men and are characterized by an intense one sided pain behind the eye or temple. The pain usually lasts around 1 - 2 hours on average but may recur several times a day. Alcohol, Tobacco, Histamine or Stress are said to be some triggers for Cluster Headaches.

Sinus Headaches - Are mainly associated by a deep constant pain in the Cheekbones, Forehead or Bridge of the Nose. The pain becomes more intense with sudden head movements. Doctors treatments for Sinus headaches are usually by antibiotics for an infection.

Most headaches are caused by different factors working in combination these may include: Musculoskeletal System, Dietary problems, Infections, Eye or Dental or Neurological problems.

The above information is provided from various sources and is here to help in describing the types of headaches we encounter and not as a diagnosis. If you are at all concerned regarding your headaches please do not hesitate to contact your GP for a medical examination.

Some Complementary Therapies have been known to provide relief for headaches such as The Dorn Method, Indian Head Massage, Acupuncture & Aromatherapy.

Dorn and children (German case studies)

Joseph G. Mueller, Dorn Therapist CH-6373 Ennetburgen:

A child is not too young for a Dorntherapie:3-4 children come to me a week to practice (of course with parents) a spinal and joint control to be carried out. It is very important to carry out an inspection from time to incipient faults which can lead to scoliosis, hip problems, etc, to fix the same at the beginning. When a child comes to me with pain, so I can from the body language of the child quickly find out where and what ails the child. The procedure with the children's almost like adults. Control and correction of leg length, etc, just everything a lot smoother. There are very good exercises for the children, the parents can do with them regularly and fun. It would be good if this Dorn therapy is distributed better for our children.

In Practice:

Two years ago, called me a mother. Desperate, she told me that her 7 year old daughter had a headache every day for three years, and no one could help her now. I visited the family in Zurich. The pain was really drawn to the girls face. I immediately started with the Dorn therapy, almost as for adults only much softer and apply slight pressure to the girl I could take the headache. Incidentally, I asked her what had happened before 3 or 4 years? She replied that she was on a bicycle pushed violently against a man on a bicycle, and so much that she was thrown against the pavement edge to the head. At first she did not notice much of the fall, several months later she got a headache at intervals. Later day. Pain was also more and more, until they had so much vomit. It took the girl to move only the atlas to the right. For a child, it takes a lot of feeling and love. Just how it works, with feeling and love! Since the day the girl had no more headaches, there are now about 2 years ago. Today, she can laugh again and be merry. In these and similar accidents, the skeleton of a large or small people to be controlled. We see nothing outwardly when a vortex is moved. The insidious thing is that later the pain begin. In general, children are so flexible that little happens in a crash. Is slightly shifted, the children would unconsciously move so that the vortex usually push themselves back into the correct position.Increasingly mothers with their toddlers into practice. A mother came in and said that her 3 month old child cry and almost always night and day. Then I checked the child's spine gently and almost no pressure. After a few minutes it goes to sleep. The mother told me later that the treatment had been her child no more stomach cramps.A toddler was with me because the pediatrician diagnosed scoliosis, and had pointed out recommended a spike - therapist mother. I was able to treat the infant, now it's two years old and has no more scoliosis. It is important to treat scoliosis early, the earlier the better. A child is not too young to make such a gentle Dorn therapy.

Dorn Case Studies from Germany

(Translated by Google)
Information taken from Dornfinder website in Germany:

Milly Gueisbuhler, Dorn Therapist, CH-2740 Moutier:
In Practice:
A 14 year old boy (volleyball player) visits the doctor because of severe back pain. The doctor notes pelvic tilt and curvature of the thoracic spine and sends the accompanying mother and him to a physical therapist. The mother decides to come to me (she had heard that I just shove the bone). The leg length test results: Right leg four inches longer, left leg two centimeters out gerutsches hip. I adjust the leg length, and the sacrum is also displaced, and the fourth to eighth thoracic vertebra, which I also correct. The young man does his homework exercises diligently (insertion of the hip joints, especially in the evening) and has since been without complaints. He is (now playing in the A team Volleyball) very athletic and has grown to be an upright, straight young man.

In Practice:
A man speaks to me in front of our house: he had a daughter who had back pain. He was himself masseur, but he could not help. We're from a rendez-vous and the mother brings her 15-year-old daughter to me. The pain she was in the upper back. She is in 8th School year and sit for long at school. The stress tests will also help with the still. I correct her leg lengths (both legs 2 inches longer) and show them how they must do it yourself. Then there is the correction of the spine. The upper thoracic vertebrae (3rd-5th) were displaced. Then she gets a gentle Breuss massage. She sleeps like one leaves me relaxed and pain free. It comes once in my practice, I give her extra Bachblüten to cope with the stress at school better. Meanwhile, half a year has passed, until they sought my help.

"It's never too late for a healthy back -
the attitude of the school DORN METHOD ":
Every third person has back pain, often as a chronic ailment. But it need not be! The holistic method spikealso provides sustainable support for persistent problems. The Dorn method is as simple as it is ingenious: not the therapist, but the patient himself takes over the active part of the treatment. Only then can new, healthy posture and movement patterns are anchored. Man finds back to his inner self - literally. The old harmful patterns become a stored once and for all. This includes even the entire own attitude to life Wed Back problems can be solved from the bottom up!
Only in German speaking countries, many hundreds of doctors, naturopaths and physiotherapists their patients successfully launched comprehensive cure for spinal and joint problems. The Dorn method is now part of the abiding heritage physiotherapy treatment methods.
Highly effective, with no side effects and practiced worldwide - especially in chronic joint problems and back pain: the method spike is well recommended to get a rid once and for all from back pain and upright to go through life, in the truest sense of the word.

Helping to ease the stress

Helping to ease Stress
with a Dorn Method and Breuss
Massage combination treatment.

Modern life can be very demanding. For many people
today, the feeling of being 'stressed' has become 'normal'
and almost a way of life for them. But stress is not always
a bad thing; for instance stress in small doses can help
you perform better and motivate you to do your best
whether at work or play.

When you’re permanently caught up in these stressful situations and unable to take a break, you will eventually pay the price mentally or physically or even both.  By learning to recognise the signs and symptoms of stress earlier you will be able to help yourself from the 'burnout' that may occur. The actual feeling of being stressed is normal and in most cases it is fine in small amounts. What we are feeling is actually the body's natural response to us being placed in what we think of as uncomfortable situations.
For instance, you may have the feeling of being upset or you maybe under pressure at work due to a heavy workload or having certain deadlines to meet.                                                                                              It is then that your body’s natural defences will kick in.
This is what is known as the fight-or-flight situation.
When this happens our nervous system sends a high amount of stress hormones racing around our body; these stress hormones include adrenaline and cortisol, which place our body on high alert or in a state of emergency. When this happens, our hearts beat faster, our blood pressure rises, our breathing becomes a lot quicker and we tend to be more focussed than usual.
This is only good in the short term as it is our body's way of getting us out of trouble or in our modern society, it’s more about getting the job done faster and more efficiently. But if this state was to continue over a longer period of time without adequate breaks to allow your body to naturally wind down, you will be sure to hit the overload button and end up a mental or physical wreck in no time at all.
Being placed under a high amount of stress all the time can cause our bodies to start to shut down. It can cause us to have all sorts of health issues; feelings of lethargy, digestion problems or even ulcers can arise among other things. We become more prone to infectious diseases as all our body's defences are worn out. Our relationships with our family members can start to suffer; we may experience mood swings or anxiety and even depression. Our quality of life can deteriorate quite quickly.
Having a small amount of stress is quite normal in our everyday lives and without this we would be in a bit of a pickle, to be honest, as stress keeps us on our toes and makes us more alert, focussed and energetic and can even save our lives in an emergency situation. So not all types of stress are BAD!

What we have to do is notice the
signs and symptoms of stress and to
learn to control them before they
control us.

I have found that using The Dorn Method and Breuss Spinal Massage as a combination treatment is not only a good way to help with easing the build up of stress physically but mentally too. Most people who are stressed end up with their muscles so tight that to try to begin a treatment with the Dorn Method is difficult. This is where the two treatments come together as one. Beginning your treatment with a Breuss Massage will relax you, especially if you have never had a treatment before. I have found that even the most tense, stressed people will succumb to the gentle Breuss Massage; so much so that some of my clients have fallen asleep during this. When you are in this relaxed state of mind and body, your Dorn Practitioner can slowly
introduce the Dorn Method. The released tension and relaxed muscles enable your practitioner to
feel any misalignments of the spinal column and other joints, if there are any at all?  then gently coax them back into their natural position. By realigning these vertebrae or joints, your nervous system is able to perform the way it should and your body can start to heal itself naturally. I have found the combination of these two therapies to be very gentle in their practice on the physical side of things, but also have a very powerful effect on helping to relax the mind.
The only thing I can say is if you do suffer with stress; for instance if you are a high-flying business professional or a hard-working mum who finds juggling work and looking after the demands of children and family at home stressful
and feel in need of just some relaxation, then try
getting in touch with your nearest DMTA
registered Dorn Method Practitioner and see for yourself.

Get off on the right foot...

Get off on the right foot with The Dorn Method

This month, we are taking a look at leg length differences, and how The Dorn Method tackles this problem head on with stunning results.

The Dorn Method has been correcting people's leg length differences for nearly 40 years with very simple movements that are relaxing for the client and very effective too.
The Dorn Method always bases it's treatments on the correction of unequal leg length, making sure that we have a stable core to work with. The problems many people face with unequal leg length are lower backache, hip, knee and ankle pain, even scoliosis. The latter would be an effect of the spine bending to try and keep the body in an even upright position as the pelvis is no longer level, causing in many cases continious back pain. By keeping an even leg length you are making sure that not only the spine and pelvis are aligned you will also be de-stressing the hip, knee and ankle joints also.
This is not as hard as you may think but does require a little self discipline from the client.
It takes less than five minutes each day to do.
Have you ever found yourself walking down the street placing one foot down harder on the pavement than the other? I know I have. And when I had checked my leg length it was definitely because I had one leg longer than the other. That's where the beauty of The Dorn Method comes in.
A registered Dorn Method Practitioner can help you with this re-alignment, and then show you how you can do this yourself safely at home with The Dorn Method's unique self help exercises.
Most people who have unequal leg length end up with wedges in their shoes to try and make up the difference, but with Dorn you don't have to. The obvious and only way The Dorn Method cannot make a difference to leg length would be if you were born with a major defect or the result of surgery or an accident made the difference.
But normally Dorn can help with most leg length discrepancies.

This medical study information was from the Science Daily website
Unequal Leg Length Tied to Osteoarthritis, Study finds Science Daily (Mar 31, 2010)
A new study shows that arthritis in the knee is linked to the common trait of having one leg that is longer than the other. Whether or not the leg length differential is a direct cause of Osteoarthritis is not clear, but the findings may allow people to take preventative measures before the onset of the chronic and painful condition.

The Dorn Method is one of those preventative measures YOU can take.
To help restore balance to your body  and relieve the pressure from the spine, hip and other areas due to leg length differences, don't you think it may be a good time to check out The Dorn Method?
Dorn not only helps to correct but also helps to educate.
